What's New?

Hello lovely readers! I thought it's about time that I put pen to paper, bare my soul a little and get on with my blog.

You see, Just a little less has been on hold again, which is fine, but I would like to give it some new energy and explore some different areas with you.

I doubt if I'll be writing about minimalism very often from now on because whilst it's been an amazing tool in my life – namely in giving me much needed freedom from the traps of consumerism, in helping me to downsize my house and career and in enabling me to reclaim my well being – minimalism is also, to be honest, a very restrictive subject to write about. I think I've put enough 'How to...' minimalism posts out there already and quite frankly I've got nothing new to say on the subject.

Now I'm ready to write about the rest of my life post-minimalism: how I struggle with perfectionism; ageing joyfully; juggling different roles; learning new roles; my interest in self-improvement and self-care; how to stay motivated and organised; and discovering passions to fill my hard-won time.

I've been dissatisfied lately with blogging, both my own, and the fact that many of my old favourites have disappeared. I've found YouTube to be more engaging, honest and uplifting and have found some fantastic inspiration on a variety of topics and from vloggers as young as sixteen. It's the intimacy, honesty and personality that draw me in but I don't want to become a vlogger.

Instead, I wonder if this intimacy can be recreated in the written word. I hope so, because it's how I feel I best communicate and writing is the perfect creative outlet for me.

I'm very reluctant to close this blog right now because my instinct is that it's still an important part of my life – but I've got to reflect on why it's not inspiring me and make changes to address this.

So, today I'm testing the water.

I'm very much looking forward to writing fresh posts and exchanging ideas on all manner of topics in the near future. I aim to keep inspired about my content whilst not having to devote too much time to it or feel that it's a chore. I'm sure that's why many blogs close.

That's a challenge. But I love a challenge!

It'd be great to have your support.

Thanks for reading and take care xo

  2. I second that. I look forward to reading your posts too and have enjoyed the recommendations of other reading matter. It must feel quite a commitment at times to keep a blog going but I do appreciate your efforts.

  3. Your new block directions sound very appropriate topics for your readers Claire and I know I am looking forward to your views and suggestions. Like you, I have found YouTube to be an amazing source of knowledge and only read a very small number of blogs now. The commitment required for both of these avenues of expression and information is considerable and your contribution has added much value to my life. I'm very pleased that you are continuing.

  7. As long as you don’t blog about food, being frugal or your ailments I will happily read about growing old joyfully, generosity of spirit and how truly wonderful it is being a single woman living in a free western society.

  8. Hey Claire,
I shall be interested to see the direction that your blog goes, especially ageing joyfully and mindfully. I hit a crossroads with my blog, and then had a kind of block about it that lasted for about a year. But I feel energised once more. Like you, I think the written word is a powerful tool, and I would not want to turn my back on my own writing space.
Looking forward to all your upcoming posts!

  9. My old blog was dragging me down, and like you I am exploring new avenues with my new blog. This one is about me, my thoughts, things I find in the wonderful world of the internet but also about minimilising as I need less and less as I try to grow older disgracefully, with fun, lots of laughter and hopefully with a touch of style.

I'm not sharing as much about our day to day life, just dipping in every now and then when it suits and when the urge to becomes too much not too. I'm also purposefully not answering questions unless I really want to. Sometimes it feels the more you tell the more folk want to know ... and that can get overwhelming.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what appears here, but please keep the name and this blog ... just move it forward, the same way as you are moving forward.

  12. Claire -- I enjoy your blog very much indeed -- the writing, the photos -- everything. I love to see in my in-box that you've posted something -- it really gives me a lift. I'll read you on whatever topics you're interested in writing about. And I generally (much) prefer the written word to videos -- though didn't you post a video a few years ago? maybe 2013 ish? -- I liked that. I like your approach and your spirit -- please keep it up. Many thanks.

  13. Claire, follow the path of inspiration and self-development. It's always the right one. Your blog can be anything you want it to be. I'm in the middle of an on-line course at the moment. I can feel everything I've ever been falling away. I'll talk more about it some time. All the best. X
