Happy Friday Links

Happy links time again. If you've a little time to spare this weekend, here are some interesting finds to help you on your simplicity journey. There's so much to learn from other people's knowledge and experience - enjoy!

And finally, I was contacted this week by a casting producer looking for households and flat sharers for a primetime Channel 4 production to take part in a brand new social experiment. The aim is to look at the possessions that households accumulate and the importance (if any) of their belongings. The social experiment will run over a 30 day period and Channel 4 are looking for those with a genuine interest in seeing how well they cope with going back to basics.

It sounds very interesting, I think.

Here's the contact information below if you fancy it.

Is your home packed with things, most of which
you never use? Do you feel you have become too
materialistic and reliant on your stuff?

    1. Hi I think they're after people who are new to reducing their possessions but maybe one of my readers will join in?

  2. I would enjoy watching this, as we don't hold on to 'things' here I guess my house would be boring though.

  3. I read the article by Hannah Betts and it has made me consider whether or not I want to keep alcohol in my life. I don't drink every night and I don't drink until I forget, but it never makes me feel good the next day, so overall the effect is a negative one. I found the clip about washing clothes interesting too. I am trying to do less washing, but I work full time and have two primary school age children, so my laundry routine needs to be simple. I don't think washing jeans once a year would work for dog owners. Too much dog snot and mud!

    1. I've contemplated giving alcohol up completely but at the moment I'm just trying to reduce my wine drinking. Social situations are the hardest - sometimes it's easier to drive and not drink at all. I like the tip about washing similar weights of garments together. It's really annoying to find holes in t-shirts so I shall try keeping them separate from clothes with studs or zips.
