Goodbye autumn, hello winter... December, you're almost here

This first weekend of Advent has been about resting and gently easing ourselves into this new season.

I started the weekend on Friday meeting friends for a drink and then volunteering for our local Arts organisation. As photographer, I was lucky enough to be on the front row for Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin. Amazing music to chill out to and the perfect antidote to the retail frenzy that's seized the internet and even my little city.

Bah! Black Friday!

Sunlight, hyacinths, stollen bites, lighting the first of my 4 Advent candles (just 4 tea lights in a row), walking into town for coffee, spying pretty pink cyclamen in hanging baskets and lights reflecting in water have been my simple pleasures. Welcome this season of waiting.

Have a great week ♥ ♥

  1. The light reflecting in the water is amazing. At first i thought it was flower petals.

  2. Your photos of the fairy lights are stunning, especially the reflections in the water. I love the sound of your restful weekend. Ours was similar but the rest this month will be quite different, I fear. Oh, and I share your love of stollen bites. I've eaten the whole box myself over the last five days. Naughty, greedy me. xx

The photos are all stunning and the special moments of your weekend sound like the perfect way to begin Advent.
Our two adult children came over on Sunday to help trim the tree for our first Christmas in the apartment.

  7. A lovely selection of photos.

It's beginning to feel a little bit like Christmas now, with most towns lights having been switched on at the weekend, and it's lovely to stroll through town and stop for a warming coffee. But I agree with you entirely 'Bah! Black Friday', one of the poorer ideas we have imported from the USA.
