Happiness is a Project

No grand photo-story to accompany the announcement of my six month blog anniversary giveaway (I'm suffering from post holiday camera fatigue) but we did use Hubs' summer straw hat to mark the occasion. Anyway, I'm delighted to announce that the winner of Gretchen Rubin's The Happiness Project is Bee from The Linen Cloud

Congratulations Bee, please contact me to arrange delivery (email at the top of my side bar). I do think you will enjoy it as, amongst many other topics, Gretchen writes about her journey into blogging, which I certainly identified with.

I would highly recommend this book, if you are able to buy or borrow it, as it has many mini projects you can try all in the name of increasing your chipper. Gretchen insists that you are not being selfish in pursuing happiness as it will benefit not only you but others around you.

It is only recently that I have realised that happiness is something that has to be worked at but is within reach if you want it. My happiness levels fluctuate and are tested regularly but I strongly believe happiness comes from within yourself, not from others or from external sources. To me happiness is about self-acceptance and self-belief. Being generous, grateful, committed, forgiving, open, joyful and living in the moment are all steps you can take towards a more contented life.

Thank you for reading and commenting and for all who've followed Just a little less along the way. It's been a good six months.

  3. I loved this book and have actually had her next about happiness in the home since Christmas - been too busy building the home and growing other occupants to read it yet but i will! I think her books are both inspirational but also have achievable ideas. I too think happiness is something that has to be worked on.

  4. I too have both these books (I do think the first is the best) and I agree that so many of the ideas are easily achievable. Gretchen's blog is also a good read.
